The treatment of non–small-cell lung cancer has made limited but clinically significant progress during the past two decades of clinical research. Through carefully designed clinical trials, investigators have identified several chemotherapeutic drugs to combat this disease. Many questions have been asked and answered. Which combinations work best? How frequently should they be given and for how long?
